Brigadeiros are originally creamy, bite-sized chocolate balls based on condensed milk and cocoa powder. It originated in Brazil in the 40’s to put something delicious on the table at parties. Since then they have been indispensable as a treat at birthdays and parties. Despite the fact that the Brigadeiro is eaten the most “traditional” many delicious varieties have since emerged, including with cachaça, fruit, nuts and even without chocolate! Taste these Brazilian sweets once and you are hooked for life!

My name is Alexandra Spoorenberg, born in Lorena Brazil. I lived  and studied Tourism in Sao Paulo for many years. In the year 2000 I met my husband Floris, my Flying Dutchman. Since 2001  we live in the Netherlands. Our two kids, Nina and Miguel, were born in Amsterdam.

My  decision to dedicate myself to our children, and raise them in Portuguese as well, inspired me to look for something that would keep me occupied and would give me great joy doing so! Also I needed to resolve a very personal desire: being able to find the perfect high end Brazilian gift here in the Netherlands! Brigadeirogourmet.nl was born in 2011 with much support of my godmother Anna Lucia (my “dinda”) and my mother who were visiting me at the time. This became nothing less than a dream come true. Nothing better than giving away Brazilian products, of good taste, and above all delicious as well,
